It's arrived. Today Alison Black and I are pitching our documentary project The Invisibles at the Australian International Documentary Conference international pitching forum The FACTory.
The situation: The Deakin Edge Auditirium, Federation Square. 10 projects have been selected out of a pool of candidates to pitch to a large group of broadcasters, in front of a live audience attending AIDC.
We are in such great company for the pitch - sharing the stage with the likes of Anna Broinowski and the ladies from Media Stockade. There is also a young man who has come all the way from Bhutan to tell the story of a young girl who identifies as a man and who wants to look after the local monastery.
We all spent a day together before the conference really kicked off. It was a day of listening, sharing and shaping our pitch. It was a supportive group, full of constructive feedback and honest appraisal, delivered with what felt like a genuine desire to help you reach your best.
We had everyone from ABC, SBS, Foxtel and Madman through to Arte and Women Make Movies. What a line-up.
Now - time to stand up and represent.
Massive thanks to the NT representatives for your supportive smiles - and to Screen Territory's Bridget May for your energy and positivity. We need your kind of people.
