This year's Screen Forever conference is underway.
Run by Screen Producers Australia, the peak group representing producers and production companies from around Australia, the conference is the industry's go-to event for the year.
It's a massive undertaking for SPA, with about 700 producers and other creatives, buyers, broadcasters, distributors and screen agency reps buzzing over three floors of full of conference meetings and halls in Melbourne's Crown Casino.
For the uninitiated, it can be a daunting event - but it's increasingly becoming a great opportunity to not only hold meetings or sit in on sessions, but importantly reconnect with people in the industry I've worked with or shared workshops with in recent years. It's particularly important for those of us living remote, who find time and space hampers regular opportunities to meet with people who just lift yor vibe and share the same interests and passion.
After meeting with colleagues Alison Black and Mariom Farrelly to discuss a project we are sharing, I jumped into the Q and A session run by Virginia Trioli. Everything from screen funding to the Weinstein controversy was covered - a perfect way to set off a range of discussions to be had over the course of the conference.
Happy SPA'ing team - especially those repping the Territory.
